I never do or write this kind of things, but today Akira Toriyama passed away, the figure that has influenced me the most artistically and probably the reason why I am an artist. I remember getting up two hours before school just to watch Dragon Ball. I remember copying all his drawings, he made me understand how hard it is to draw, he made me want to be an artist, I wanted to be as cool as he was, but there is no one as cool as Akira was. I remember the first time I played Dragon Quest, the thousands of hours I spent there. I think he was an extremely underrated artist that transcends Dragon Ball. People forget what a tremendous concept artist he was. Chrono Trigger, Dragon Quest, Dr Slump, Sandman. The art community has lost one of the most influential figures of this century.
I feel terribly sad. Irreplaceable and inimitable.
